Omschrijving

The Shortest Relationship in the World | dir. Xiaoxuan Han | 2023 | CN | 1’Best Student Short
This animation may depict the shortest relationship in the world. Two people enjoy each other’s company with such intensity that it would make a mayfly jealous. A colorful short film by Chinese director Xiaoxuan Han.

Mother’s Child | dir. Naomi Noir | 2024 | NL | 9’Best Dutch Student
Mary can’t catch a break. Fusing motherhood with being a full-time carer for her disabled son has her up to her ears in red tape, barely keeping afloat. A surreal situation is looming. Director Naomi Noir pays tribute to society’s true heroes in her surreal yet touching animation, giving a voice to those who dedicate their lives to others.

On Weary Wings Go By | dir. Anu-Laura Tuttelberg | 2024 | EE & LT | 10’Best Experimental
The sun moves lower and the days grow shorter. Birds fly south, porcelain animals and insects hide from the freezing wind and snow. Only a small porcelain girl wanders the abandoned landscape, with no way out. A wintry poem by director Anu-Laura Tuttelberg about Nordic nature, where animation and the rhythm of nature intertwine.

Group Session | dirs. Studio Mals, Setreset Films, Koen Berkhout, Martin van der Molen, Silas Nout | 2024 | NL | 9’Best Commissioned
Geoff is a creative individual who sometimes struggles with his feelings. Is there something wrong with him? In a group session with his favorite tools – an all-star cast of peculiar puppets – and through a ridiculously catchy song, he finally discovers what has been going on all this time…

Skroll | dir. Marten Visser | 2024 | NL | 6’Best Dutch
Humans and some kind of gnomes have posted videos on social media platforms in their dimension. Skroll is a short compilation of these clips—an animated, random flow of social media content that will truly surprise you and is worth watching until the end. A bizarre film by Marten Visser.

Will You Come With Me? | dir. Derya Durmaz | 2023 | DE | 2’Best Documentary
Will You Come With Me? is a little story born in Berlin. A city that appears liberated but tends to give you a slap in the face when you get in intimate relationships. You soon discover things aren’t so different from the dark days of the past, when women had to bear responsibility not only for their own actions but also for men’s, facing the consequences alone.

MIMT 4’ | dir. Ted Wiggin | 2024 | US | 4’Jamie Bolio Award
To give a snake an orange… MIMT is a fable about animals chasing each other across planes of existence. A beautifully crafted, abstract, experimental animation by director Ted Wiggin.

Scars We Love | dir. Raphaël Jouzeau | 2024 | FR | 15’Best Short
Although she left him, Gaspard is still very much in love with Leïla. When they meet up in a crowded bar a month after their break-up, the conversation takes a bit of an awkward turn. Gaspard feels tears welling up and seeks refuge under the tablecloth, away from the prying eyes and closer to his memories… A touching and honest story by Raphaël Jouzeau, told through vivid yet dreamy animations.

Hoofs on Skates | dir. Ignas Meilunas | 2024 | LT | 12’Best Kids
In a winter wonderland, two friends are having a blast ice-skating on a frozen lake when suddenly a mysterious and unfamiliar world cracks open underneath them. The creatures of the lake need help, so it’s time to learn how to talk to a stranger, not letting fear and preconceptions take control.
